MICROSOFT SIDEWINDER MOUSE SOFTWARE SOFTWARE
However it has extremely well designed, easily switchable feet, which have very little surface area, meaning that the mouse glides extremely smoothly, it also has a small LED screen that displays info such as low battery warnings, DPI levels, etc. This "round" was very close, however, I have to give it to the G700, due to it's excellent build quality, looks and and the SideWinders feeble amount of programmable buttons. As already mentioned the G700 has 13 programmable buttons, however the software that Logitech uses to program these, is overly complicated, offering things such as Keystrokes, but not allowing these to be set as function keys like Ctrl or Shift, meaning that you have to go into the game and set things such as sprinting to normal letter keys. It also does not have as many programmable buttons as the G700, in total it has 12, and only 7 are programmable, it has a totally wasted button that is bound to macro recording. However the mouse feels very well built and all the plastics feel very sturdy, it is apparent that Logitech put a lot of effort in to the aesthetics of the mouse. The build quality of the SideWinder leaves a lot to be desired, that however does not mean that it is poorly built, just that in terms of build quality, it can't hold a candle to the G700, but of course, that should be expected, it's made by Microsoft. I feel that Logitech has put more thought into how the mouse looks rather than how it functions as an actual mouse, because the mouse looks great but is just quite difficult to use as a gaming mouse. this may sound a little knit picky, but the sidewinder also feels much cooler in your hand, due to it not adopting a stupid fake rubber texture. The G700 has 13 buttons in total, all of which are programmable, now, 13 is not the most amount of buttons ever put on a mouse, however, with the way that they all feel crammed together, you would think it was a world record attempt, the mouse has plenty of space to house all the buttons, yet Logitech, have packed them all together so tight that it's hard to hit one at a time.

I am going to be making a lot of comparisons between the G700 and the sidewinder X8, this is because I believe the two to be the closest competition, both being large, desktop gaming mice at a price point of around £55, they also both have tilting scroll wheels, which I feel is a must have for any gaming mouse, as they are easily reachable extra buttons.I'll start with mouse comfort, by saying that the G700, in terms of comfort, is quite a poorly designed mouse for larger hands, this is because rather than sticking with the design of their last attempt at a large mouse, the G9x, they have attempted to scale up their smaller designs, this means that, if you have medium-large size hands, your little finger will constantly be dragging along the mouse mat, and the same goes for the protruding bone on the inside of your wrist, I don't think it will have any skin left by the end of the week! this is because the peak of the mouse sits in your knuckles, nether allowing you to properly rest your hand on it.The sidewinder, however has its peak inside your palm, meaning that you can rest your hand properly on it when gaming, it also has a "pinkie rest", so that your little finger is not dragging along the mouse mat, where as the G700 adopts a thumb rest, the sidewinder does not, however this is not a problem due, to the position in of the side buttons, in which your thumb sits upon.
